The Summer Bucket List

on June 25, 2012

For those of you that don’t know, I am a teacher, and therefore, I get to enjoy summer a bit more than some.  I am teaching summer school this year, but I intend to still make the most of my summer.  To help me do that I have created a Summer Bucket List.  I am going to share that list with you today and then throughout the summer, I will provide updates.  I would love to hear what your summer bucket list may include.  It might inspire me to add to my list.

1. Learn How To Make Ice Cream —yummmmmy!!  I love ice cream.  My girls love ice cream.  This summer I want to make homemade ice cream and sit out in the yard at dusk with my family and enjoy it!

2. Sleep In A BackYard Tent — I use to love camping, but as I have gotten older I have grown to love indoor plumbing; however, I want my children to experience the joy of sleeping outdoors.  I think a backyard tent will be perfect.

3. Get My Faith Tattoo — I have a tattoo for the birth of my oldest daughter and now it is time for my to get one for my youngest daughter!

4. Catch Fire FliesI remember how much fun it was to run around in the big field in front of my Aunt Brenda and Uncle Buck’s house with my cousin Tonya catching fire flies.  I want to do it again!!

5. Go To A Drive In Movie — It is just something you want to do in case they disappear forever.

6. Have A Cookout — I know that seems kind of lame, but this is a big year for us.  My daughter, K, will turn 16 in July and leave for a 2 week trip to Italy and Greece.  I want to have a fantastic cook out to celebrate her birthday, 4th of July, and Bon Voyage, and I want it to be a BLAST!

7. Make Something — I don’t know what yet, but it will be great and fun and made by me and me alone!

8. Make Sure To Do Something Just For Me — Right now I am leaning towards getting a pedi and also, hanging out by the pool without anyone around to watch!

9. Eat Outside As Often As Possible — Why?  I don’t know because we can and it is different and I think it sounds fun.

10. Go For A Walk Or A Bike Ride Or Something Activity After Dinner — I know we won’t be able to do this every night, but I would like to try to do it at least twice a week!

Simple right? Well, isn’t that what life is suppose to be about enjoying the simple things.  I found this great post at Aliedwards that I am going to try.  I have never had a summer bucket list before.  I am hoping it inspires me to enjoy life more and create lasting memories with my family which in return will inspire them to enjoy life more!
